Marking 100 Years of Women in the Legal Profession

Calling all writers, advocates for gender equality, and aspiring legal minds studying Law!

Join our second round of the 100More Essay Writing Competition and make your voice heard in the fight for women’s rights. This February, we invite you to dive deep into the issues that matter, using your words to shed light on the challenges and triumphs of women in law in South Africa. Let us reflect on the progress made and the work still to be done.

Competition Details

  • Write an essay on the significance of the centenary – reflect on the achievements and challenges faced by women in the legal profession over the past 100 years and envision a future of equal opportunities. (Some questions to guide you in your writing: What does it mean to celebrate 100 years of women in law in South Africa? What still needs to be done? Have we seen significant progress in 100 years? What key milestones have happened in the 100 years that we should acknowledge? Please note these are purely guiding questions and the topic is up to your interpretation).

  • Submission Deadline: March 22, 2024

  • Word limit: 2,000

  • Include your full name, contact information, and essay title with your submission email it to the 100More Campaign at countmein@100more.org

    This serves as the second round of the 100More essay writing competition. If you have entered the first round of the competition, you are welcome to enter again in this round.

    Use the chance to have your voice heard and make an impact on women’s rights discussions. Cash prizes of up to R5000 will be awarded and the main winner will be flown to an event scheduled for April 2024 in Johannesburg. Runners-up will also be acknowledged for their outstanding contributions.
